Math Science Teacher Initiatives (MSTI)

MSTI Fellows

MSTI Fellows is a community for Cal Poly students who are interested in teaching in a STEM field. It provides a way for students to connect with one another, develop a network of support, engage in hands-on teaching opportunities, and stay engaged in relevant topics as they pursue a career in math and science education.

Being a MSTI Fellow does not mean you have committed 100% to becoming a math or science teacher, but it does mean you are interested and want to explore that opportunity. Participation in the MSTI Fellows program means you can attend our quarterly meetings, participate in MSTI funded early field experience opportunities, receive reimbursements for Live Scan and testing fees, and most importantly, explore the possibility of becoming a math or science teacher.

MSTI fellows is open to STEM majors who want to teach math or science, Liberal Studies majors who want to get authorizations in math or science, or current Cal Poly credential candidates.

Become a MSTI Fellow

There are several ways to get involved in the MSTI Fellows program. Simply participate in any of the following activities or email cesame@calpoly.edu to be added to the mailing list.

Attend a Quarterly MSTI Fellows Meeting

6th Tuesday of Each Quarter

MSTI Fellows meetings are your chance to network with future teachers and get information on topics relevant to STEM teaching and pursuing a teaching credential.
